Shirley Mills Thompson, who was raised in Jacksonville, NC, peacefully went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 17, 2026. She is reunited with her husband, Ervin Ray Thompson, whose passing she never could get over.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Bonnie Mills, sisters, Dorothy Marshburn, Tammy Hemby, and brother Jimmy Mills.
She is survived by her brother Roger Mills of Newport, NC and his family who lovingly cared for her mother during Ervin’s illness.
Shirley and Ervin made their home in Wilson, North Carolina, where they formed cherished friendships. Their many friends faithfully lifted them up in prayer each day, surrounding them with love and support.
