Peggy Mae Lemons, 90, of Beulaville, passed away in Autumn Village on Tuesday, June 8th, 2022 after courageously living at home for over two years. She is now celebrating with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with her sweet love, Earl.

Peggy and her twin sister, Patsy, were born in Randleman, N.C. on December 10th, 1931 to the late Ralph Owen Hawkins and Amanda Stella Horner. Peggy moved to Pittsboro in 1942, where she graduated from high school and met the love of her life, Earl. They celebrated their unbreakable love on September 5th, 1952 by getting married on the Bride and Groom show at Radio City Music Hall, N.Y. They moved to Beulaville, N.C. in 1969 and became members of Beulaville Baptist Church. Peggy was an active member in her church and community helping with Wednesday night church suppers and delivering Meals On Wheels to others. She worked as a teacher’s aide at East Duplin High School in 1972 and at Beulaville Elementary from 1975-1994.

Peggy always thought of others and offered unconditional love, generosity and encouragement to those around her. She had a joyful spirit, a positive attitude and a unique humor that was infectious. She always smiled, always loved and was a shining example of Christ as she humbly lived her selfless life. We will miss her.

Peggy is survived by her daughters; Karen Mercer (Phil) of Richlands, Anna Frazelle (Barry) of Wilmington; and grandchildren, Amanda Mercer, Michael Mercer (Jenn), Hannah Black (Christian), Kirsten Frazelle; and three great-granddaughters, Milly Dotsey, Everly Mercer, and Margo Black. Peggy is also survived by her sister, Jo Anne Faucher, and her sister-in-law, Helen Lemons, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl, brother, Ralph, and sisters Sara, Mary Francis and Patsy.

We hope to celebrate Peggy’s life with you at Beulaville Baptist Church, 601 East Main Street, Beulaville, N.C., 28518 on Saturday, June 18th, 2022. Visitation will be held at Beulaville Baptist Church at 2 p.m. The memorial will be held at 3 p.m. followed by interment at East Duplin Memorial Gardens.
