Minnie Louise Sloan Jones, age 83, of Chinquapin, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at home. Louise was born May 16, 1934, in Chinquapin to the late Arthur Sloan and Minnie Lee Lanier Sloan. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty years Gurman James Jones, brother Arthur Garland Sloan, and sister Eleanor Gray Sloan Sanders.
She was a member of Bethlehem Original FWB Church for most of her life. She had a love for gardening and she loved to shop. She also loved to travel, and more than anything Louise loved her family and friends.
Louise is survived by her five children, Craig Jones and wife Paula of Asheville; Deborah Merritt and husband Billy of Rose Hill; Lisa Edwards and husband Charles of Beulaville; Melody Strickland and husband Tony of Chinquapin; and Jody Jones of Dayton, Ohio. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Denise Jones Davis, Michael Jones, Justin Edwards, Leslie Edwards Ivey, Danielle Strickland Brown, Candice Strickland Haugene, Isabella Jones, and Logan Jones. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Louise leaves behind one brother Gordon Sloan and wife Marie of Maple Hill; sister-in-law Nelda Sloan of Channelview, Texas; nephew Terry Sloan and wife Jackie; sister-in-law Peggy Williams and husband Durwood, sister-in-law Reba Jones; and life-long friend Kathleen Southerland, all of Chinquapin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of who were very special to her.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 7 P.M. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1100 S NC 41 Hwy, Beulaville, with visitation immediately following the service. Interment will be Friday, March 30, 2018, at 11 A.M. at the Brown Cemetery in Fountaintown.
The family will be receiving friends at the home, 1853 S NC Hwy 111, Chinquapin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Bethlehem Original FWB Church Building Fund, 2106 S NC 111 Hwy, Chinquapin, NC 28521.
