Rebecca Thomas Smith, age 85, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.  Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Smith Brown of Beulaville; one grandchild, Jessica Thomas; and one great grandchild, Hampton Thomas.

Jean Lanier Giddeons, 75, of 612 E. Southerland Street, Wallace, NC passed away March 11, 2017, at Rex Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Giddeons Quinn and husband Jay of Wallace; two grandchildren, Jack Quinn and Anna Carson Quinn; and one sister, Mary Helen Bryant of Rose Hill.

Born in Duplin County to the late Ozelle and Durward Lanier, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Carson “Sambo” Giddeons.  Together they established and operated Giddeons’ Body Shop, Inc.  She retired after thirty years of service to CP&L.

Funeral services will be held at Serenity Funeral Home in Beulaville on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 2:00 PM followed by visitation.  Burial will follow the visitation at Rockfish Cemetery in Wallace, NC.  Pallbearers will be Mike Bryant, Patrick Giddeons, Tray Giddeons, Gary Murphy, Ken Roberts, Dr. Daniel Ricci, Curtis Simpson, and Bill Johnson.

In addition to her kindheartedness and generosity, Jean was a staunch prayer warrior and considered family her greatest wealth.  She has finished her course as a noble matriarch and her seat will be empty.

Thigpen and husband Jeff of Beulaville; son, Gary A.  Miller and friend Wendy Fountain of Beulaville; sisters, Ruth Grady of Beulaville, Shirley Lanier of Beulaville and Sue Hunter of Kinston; grandchildren, Cristy Bell and Kelly Horne; and great grandchildren, Braden Bell and Lawson Horne.

Mrs. Brock is survived by her three daughters, Wilma Thomas of Beulaville, Maleta Davis of Wallace, and Hazel Marie Quinn of Potters Hill; sister, Carolean Whaley of Richlands; brother, Roger Edwards of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Fountain is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Haywood Fountain of Beulaville; two daughters, Mona Fountain of Fairfax, VA, Leah Zanetta and husband Lon of Richmond, VA; son Keith Fountain and wife Karen of Anniston, AL; two sisters, Linda T. Hollingsworth of Wallace, Shirley T. Mercer of Beulaville; brother, C. G. Thigpen of Beulaville; five grandchildren, Morgan, Ashley, Kyle, Matthew, and Aryn; and one great grandchild, Payton.
