Polly B. Thomas, age 94, passed away on January 22, 2023 at ECU Health Duplin Hospital in Kenansville. She is preceeded in death by her husband Frank J. Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her sister-in-law Wyoma Thomas of Beulaville, nieces, Gretchen M. Thigpen of Beulaville, Sandra Lewis of Raleigh; nephews, C. A. Miller, Jr. of Beulaville, Greg Thomas of TX, Jerome Thomas of FL, Michael Thomas of Belhaven, Steve Thomas of Apex, Tony T. Miller of Beulaville; many great nieces and nephews; and many great great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beulaville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 394 Beulaville, NC 28518. Donations will be used for the church choir and senior adult ministries of which she was a dedicated member of both.

Charlene Raynor Murphy, age 51, died Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Patrick Murphy of Kenansville; daughter, Samantha Teachey (Joseph) of Kenansville; son, Matthew Raynor (Shanna) of Beulaville, Tyler Murphy of Wallace; mother, Sandy Quinn Edwards of Beulaville; sister Mary Williams (Perry, Jr.) of Beulaville; brother, Lonnie Record, Jr. of Pin Hook; and three grandchildren, Caleb Teachey, Camden Teachey, and Laycee Teachey.

William Worth Lanier, age 78, passed away peacefully January 3, 2023, surrounded by his wife and his children at home.  Worth was born August 18,1944, in Onslow County, North Carolina to Fannie M. Lanier and Raeford Lanier.  On June 11, 1966, Worth married his high school sweetheart, Patricia McDowell.

Worth loved to bake cakes, do puzzles, talk to any and everyone he met. He spent his life being an example of Christ’s love. When his children were young, he worked hard to teach them Godly values. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Papa”. 

Worth was a dedicated member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church and served as a deacon and wherever needed within the church.  He was committed to serving and loving the Lord and was thankful for his church family.  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me, Philippians 4:13.

Worth is survived by his wife Patricia and his two sons: Joey Lanier and wife Sheila Lanier of Winterville, and Rick Lanier of Beulaville; and his two grandchildren:  Jason Worth Lanier and wife Brooke and their three sons, Connor, Ryan, and Finn of Winterville; and Kathryn Gail Lanier and fiancé Billy Lawrence Phillips of Ayden.

Judith Annette Fountain, age 77, passed away peacefully December 21, 2022, surrounded by her children and sister at East Carolina Health Duplin Hospital.  Annette was born August 8, 1945, in Kinston, North Carolina to Lou Alice and James Odell Thomas.  On June 19, 1964, Annette married her high school sweetheart, Benny Fountain, who proceeded her in death on Easter day 2021.

Annette loved to work in the yard and would keep everyone busy planting flowers and making her yead beautiful.  When her children were young, she worked hard to make a loving home filled with biscuits, garden fresh vegetables, sweet tea, and handmade clothes.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “Ninny” instead of Granny. 

Annette was a dedicated member of Cedar Fork Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and any other jobs needed within the church.  She was committed to serving and loving the Lord and was thankful for her church family.  “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.” Proverbs 31

Annette is survived by her sister James Lou “Jamie” Murray; her two children: Kahn Fountain and wife Elizabeth Fountain of Pollocksville, and Lou Anna Fountain North and husband Glenn “Buddy” North of Beulaville; and five grandchildren:  Paige Fountain, Kendric Fountain, Landon Hall, Hunter North, and Leah North.

Annette will be laid to rest by her loving husband at the Fountain Cemetery on December 23, 2022.

Paul Franklin “Frank” Epley, age 75, died Saturday, December 17, 2022 in Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

Mr. Epley is survived by his son, Philip Epley and wife Amy of Beulaville; partner, Barbara Marquez of Dudley; grandchild Megan Epley, aunt, Betty Epley Hudgins of Marion; nephews, Charles Leroy Epley of Hope Mills, Cary Lee Epley of Beulaville; nieces, Cathy Epley Mobley of Beulaville, Mary Beth Epley Swinson of Beulaville.

Frank was a sweet loving caring soul.
